Microsoft has provided tools for that, and there are other, well-maintained opensourced Note: This tool does not reverse engineer from the database (i.e., "database-first"). string length, index flags, required attributes and other properties being available in the designer.different concerns being generated into different subdirectories (entities, enums, dbcontext).class and enumeration nodes that can be colored to visually group the model.
If you are used to the EF visual modeling that comes with Visual Studio, you'll be pretty much at home. Tool doesn't become a dependency to your project. The designer doesn't need to be present to use the code that's generated - it generates standard C#, using the code-first, fluent API - so the And, since the code is written using partial classes, any additions you make to your generated code are retained across That can be regenerated when your model changes. While giving you complete control over how the code is generated you'll be able to create, out of the box, sophisticated, consistent and correct Entity Framework code Enumerations are also included in the visual model, as is the ability to add text blocks toĮxplain potentially arcane parts of your design. Inheritance, unidirectional and bidirectional associations are all supported. It's an opinionated code generator, adding a new file type (.efmodel) that allows for fast, easy and, most importantly, visual design of persistent classes.
I did again install from DVD and choose REPAIR and I still have this problem. This Visual Studio 2022 extension is the easiest way to add a consistently correct Entity Framework model to your project with support for EF6 and EFCore2-6. I checked VS2010 and VS2010 SP1 is installed. "cannot find custom tool 'EntityModelCodeGenerator' on this system." I then right clicked on EDMX and choose 'Run Custom Tool" and then I receive this error I clicked on the properties of the file (*.edmx)Īnd I see Cusotmtool: EntityModelCodeGenerator and build action : EntityDeploy I've tried several options (open with ) and I don't get the UI Designer for my Entity Framework (edmx ) file. I googled and found you should do open with and choose XML and then close XML and double click again.
I can't do update from Database or add entities from Database etc.
The issue I've is: When I double click on the EDMX file it gets directly in to the XML. I've also done windows updates - no updates available from update window anymore
I've reinstalled my laptop - Windows 7, VS2010, VS2010 SP1, SQL2008 and SQL2008 SP2.
